Samsung is about to launch the Galaxy S10, the 10th edition of its flagship phone on February 20 in San Francisco.
With the Samsung 5G phone launch also near, rumour-mill has been working overtime speculative on the specifications, features and design.
Samsung, though has confirmed that the 5G phone will be sold under the Galaxy brand name and will be released alongside other Galaxy S10 models.
But now some confirmed details have come out. Let’s take a look
Samsung Galaxy S10 will come in four variants
Samsung has been facing stiff competition from Huawei who became the 2nd largest phone manufacturer recently for the feature and budget-conscious users and at the same time iPhone which targets premium users. With that in mind, Samsung is going to offer four variants of the Galaxy S10, one of which wil be a 5G phone.
Four Variants of Samsung Galaxy S10 are:
- Galaxy S10 E with a 5.8-inch display
- Galaxy S10 with a 6.1-inch display
- Galaxy S10 Plus with a 6.4-inch display
- Galaxy S10 X with 5G and a 6.7-inch display
Samsung Galaxy S10 will have Infinity-O display and a minimal bezel
Reportedly, the Galaxy S10 will have Infinity-O display which uses a small punch hole, discarding the notch that most phones use today.
The phone reportedly will also have in-display fingerprint sensors except in the base version S10 E will have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Snapdragon CPU and LPDDR5 RAM
The Galaxy S10 is expected to use Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm chipset, with the 5G variant running on Snapdragon X50 5G modem.
Some countries with price sensitivity may also see the phone running on Samsung Exynos 9820, the homegrown chipset from Samsung.
It has also been reported that the phone will contain LPDDR5 RAM with upto 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage on the top-end versions (S10 and S10 Plus). S10E will have 6GB RAM with 128GB storage. However, it is likely that there will be several configurations for each variant ranging from 6GB to 8GB RAM and 64GB to 512GB storage.
Galaxy S10 will also have expandable memory of upto 512GB.
The 5G variant of the Galaxy S10, which was named Beyond X, will reportedly have 10GB RAM.
Galaxy S10 to have mammoth 5,000 mAH battery, wireless and reverse wireless charging
At least the 5G version of Galaxy S10 will have a 5,000 mAH battery. The 4G versions including S10, S10 Plus will have 3,500 mAH and 4,000 mAH respectively. The base version Galaxy S10 E will have 3,100 mAH battery.
Galaxy S10 reportedly will have fast charging, wireless charging and also have the reverse wireless charging capability wherein it can be used to charge another phone.
Other Features and highlights of Galaxy S10
The Galaxy S10 Plus is expected to have 5 cameras, two for selfies at the front, three at the rear. However, camera specifications for other models are not confirmed yet.
It will likely be IP68 certified water and dust resistant body, a Type-C USB and Bixby 2.0. The latest Bixby, version 3.0 is not expected to feature at this time.
The OS will be a customised version of Android 9 Pie, with Samsung’s own skin called One UI. With Android Pie, Samsung is adopting the most secure Android till date right out of the box.
Galaxy S10 price
The phone is expected to be price at $1,750 for the top end version, Galaxy S10 Plus with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage. However, the S10 E version is expect to cost $850.
Currently the phone is expected to be launched in last week of February and go on sale in second week of March.
