Google has revealed several tools to help you balance your smartphone use with tools designed to help you take a break and carve out time for yourself.
Digital Wellbeing dashboard
With Instagram setting the trend of measuring app usage, Google has quickly followed and taken it a notch above.
The Digital Wellbeing dashboard displays the which apps do you use most frequently and how much time is spent on them.
The dashboard also shows how many times a user has unlocked the phone and how many notifications they have received.
These metrics have been chosen to help the user decide what are the areas they can cut upon in their smartphone usage and set targets accordingly.
App Timer to cut down on scrolling
Addicted to scrolling down an app endlessly?
App timer can help you limit the usage of apps individually so that the phone will warn you when you are nearing the limit set by you. E.g. if you don’t want to use Facebook for more than 30 minutes, you can figure the app timer and it will tell you when 30 minutes of Facebook usage is nearing.
It will also display notifications to remind you of the goal and also when the time limit has been exhausted.
