Twitter has deleted over 10,000 accounts that were supposedly automated bots that were spreading posts to discourage users from voting in US midterm elections.

The accounts were flagged by the Democrats after they were wrongly attributed to them.

“We took action on relevant accounts and activity on Twitter,” a Twitter spokesman told Reuters in an email.

The accounts were suspended during September and October months, 2018. However, Twitter declined to release more information on the modus operandi of the accounts.
